Gail Harrington is the owner, manager, and director of training programs at Black Magic Farm, more formally referred to as Gail Harrington's Equestrian Services LLC. Gail has strong personal competition background which includes eventing to preliminary level at USCTA on the east coast, dressage to F.E.I. Prix St. George. Training the young horse from imprinting through backing to reaching the highest riding potential holds a certain mystique for Gail due to the individualism of each animal involved. Presently is bringing along the Dutch warmblood gelding "Rambo" imported from Holland at age two in January 2001.

Gail's educational background is varied with a balance between both French and German systems. In 1984, she began training with Jean-Luc Cornille, Maitre de Manege of the Cadre Noir at Samur while competing in eventing on the 17'2 h Thoroughbred "Formal Affair". Though distinguished for his competition on the French Three-Day Event Team, Mr. Cornille is most recognized in the U.S.A. for his contributions in the study of biomechanics of equine athletes. Riding sessions focus on synchronization of the rider's aids to the actions and coordination levels of the horse underneath. A great appreciation for the intelligence of the horse as a willing student under the rider is emphasized and developed. These are concepts that Gail has applied with success to her own horses and brings to her students today. Another influential mentor under whom Gail has trained including Major Anders Lindgren of Sweden while attending the U.S.D.F. Regional Instructors Seminar as a participant in 1989 as well as the U.S.D.F./Hopkins Seminar in Lincoln, Nebraska. "Things take time" was a quote from Major Lindgren in reference to expectations of training and the rider's patience. Major Lindgren was dedicated to improving the general level of dressage instruction through U.S.D.F. programs in the United States and his programs were packed with information designed to improve the riding and teaching skills of program participants. Gail also enjoys breeding and raising young quality warmbloods at her farm in South Hampton, New Hampshire. Starting young horses under saddle patiently is a specialty.

Other notable credentials: Gail graduated from Boston University suma cum laude with a degree in education. She has been president of the Southern New Hampshire Dressage and Combined Training Association since 1993, Professional member of USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) member USDF, member New England Dressage Association. Gail has been an active teacher and coach of riding students for two decades. Appreciation of the horse as a willing partner in our riding endeavors is a major requirement as a mental approach from students. "Riding skills look easy but are hard to learn. Mental approach determines if you will take the long view of riding as a lifetime sport with a dance partner or just a passing fancy. Patience is a virtue."
